The stance of a democratic society against terrorism: Turkey's approach
Dear colleagues and travel partners,
Many warmest greetings to you again from the family of Gemini & Travel of Turkey.

As PKK (The Kurdistan Workers Party) terroristic incidents recently taking place though sporodically in the far end of Turkey and may pose a possible ambiguity amongst our business partners in their prospective tour programmings, I thought it would be appropriate to dwell on this subject exclusively to disperse the hase in minds and explain the Turkish stand to that matter.
Regardless of the threat level that terrorism generates to the state and society in democratic systems, terrorism must be considered an internal threat. Terrorists should not be viewed as an outside enemy to be destroyed; instead, they must be perceived as citizens who are criminals of the respective country, and the fight against terrorism has to be carried out accordingly. The concept of 'war against terror' can only be used metaphorically. In real terms, terror has to be solved by specific counter-terrorist methods, not by a whole range of war.
In recent years, terrorist acts have reached a level threatening not only the security of a certain country or region, but also threatening all of humanity. Although terrorists usually use the same or similar methods such as suicide attacks, car bombing and kidnapping we cannot assert that there is only one way of combat against terrorism. Surely the most effective solution for the terrorist acts that have different causes and sources is to define these causes and to eliminate them.
The size of the terrorist threat, on the other hand, can never necessitate nor legitimize countering terrorism by conducting illegal attacks. The most influential resolution against terrorist acts that are still continued is the combat performed by 'internal security units' that 'act under the control of the civilian authority' without receding from 'the principles of the democratic system'. Whatever the dimension of the terror-based security threat is, the struggle against terrorism must be continued within the democratic system, and terror must never be an excuse for interrupting or abolishing democracy.
Due to its strong historical and cultural ties, Turkey holds a great potential for solving its own regional and internal problems. Because of this, conducting combative techniques against terrorism in Turkey within the limits of democratic principles and the success that will be gained during this process will not only benefit Turkey, but it will also greatly contribute to the peace in the region and in the world. In other words, if Turkey is fully equipped with a democratic system, it will acquire a constant stability. This security from within will also contribute to world peace.
In conclusion, I deem it necessary and timely to underscore the fact that Turkey is committed to steadily continue its multi-lateral relations with the free world in full swing, and as such, it shall remain to be one of the safest countries in our region for tourists. In fact, the statistically rising figures of tourist flow to Turkey during the past few years are clearly the testification of this statement.
Kindest regards.
